Hi Friend

Hi Friend -

I haven't checked in for a few days - how have you been? I'm sorry I haven't stopped by your blog. Believe me, my intentions are always good, but things just seem to happen around here. Sometimes it's just plain busyness that keeps me away. Like book reading. Or cake pop baking. Or Thanksgiving planning. Or house cleaning. Or Christmas shopping. Or Bunco playing. And sometimes it's unavoidable things that will always win out over blog-hopping. Like the be-dreaded sickness. Yuck. This week, I've done it all.

But it's Friday! And that means it's almost Saturday! And then Sunday!

This week, I

  • finished reading Rebecca, and began Jane Austen's Persuasion. (Thanks for your book  recommendations, by the way!)
  • watched my girls tackle baking cake pops for the first time. They were delicious, but there must be an easier way!  Any suggestions?
  • tweaked last year's Thanksgiving menu, contacted everyone with the items they should bring, and made my grocery list.  Amazing to see it was shorter than last year!
  • had an energy audit.  Knowing the inspector would be in each and every room helped with the necessary motivation to keep things tidy.
  • managed to get out and pick up a few early Christmas presents. I plan to do more online shopping in the next 24 hours, finish it all up in two weeks, and have things under the tree by the 15th.
  • played Bunco with friends one night and won a beautiful leaf garland as a prize for "middle of the road". Christmas Bunco will be at my house on the 15th - everyone will bring a $5 exchange gift and an appetizer to share. Should be fun!
  • was sick. I'm glad it didn't last very long!  The Alka Seltzer Cold Medicine sure seemed to nip it in the bud.  Two days of afternoon naps enjoyed on the couch was a blessing!

This morning I got all my Thanksgiving groceries, except the fresh turkey that I'll pick up next Wednesday. I also picked out some paint for our bedroom. Tonight I'll tape all the trim, and Gary said he'd help me paint tomorrow. We got new carpet this summer, and I picked out new bedding shortly after that. Anyway, it'll be a nice job completed!

Brittany is on an overnight college visit, so it's just Suzanne and me today and tomorrow. After making our stops in town, we ate lunch out together and had a fun time.  She's busy now with a project, and will have to start on school after that.  I think I'm gonna go fix me some coffee and doctor it up with the Peppermint Mocha creamer I bought this morning. Then I'll come visit you. How does that sound? It'll be fun to catch up - it's been too long. Again. Sigh.

You have accomplished a great deal for a sick gal! Wow. John and I did the Thanksgiving shopping last night. Wowie. What a load of groceries. I'm so glad that we didn't have to buy a turkey. (My daughter's company gives her one.)

Don't worry about visiting me. Sounds as if another nap on the sofa is in order. And you're painting tomorrow? So am I...the kitchen window moldings.

Wow! I don't know that I could get half that done while being sick. I am such a baby! I am getting ready to attend our first of 3 Thanksgiving dinners tomorrow. I have to take my sweet potato souffle so I had better get dinner over with so that I can get started for tomorrow. Enjoy your weekend and I hope you get your painting done (we are doing some of that around here too).

Leah, you have been busy, and sick on top of it all. I don't bounce back as fast as I once did when I was your age.

I just finished my third trip to the grocery store. So many trips because the other stores were out of items I needed.

My SIL and I have it all worked out like a fine running sewing machine. We've doing this for about twenty years. Each year I think it can't get any better.

Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting on my post. Have a great weekend painting. I would love to see pictures.

... and then it will be Monday and then TUESDAY! And we will get to see each other in person! Yay Yay Yay!

I LOVE Jane Austin and I love Persuasion. Any of JA's books are excellent. Have you read Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte? Or Jane Eyre by her sister Charolette Bronte? Both excellent books.

Wow, you have been a busy lady! Love all the holiday creamers that are out. I usually drink coffee black, but the creamers are so good, I pretend I'm having a latte. (A whole lot cheaper, too)

Curious where S is visiting?

I've heard such great things about Bunco--want to try it sometime!

Enjoy the weekend--sounds like snow could fall . . .
